The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the office of auxiliary of the diocese of Belize City-Belmopan, Belize, presented by Bishop Christopher J. Glancy, C.S.V.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Uijeongbu, Korea

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Uijeongbu, Korea, presented by Bishop Peter Ki-Heon Lee.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Benedict Hee-song Son, titular of Campli, until now auxiliary and vicar general of the archdiocese of Seoul, Korea, as bishop of the diocese of Uijeongbu.

 

Resignation and appointment of prelate bishop of São Félix, Brazil

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the territorial prelature of São Félix, Brazil, presented by Bishop Adriano Ciocca Vasino.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Lucio Nicoletto, of the clergy of Padua, Italy, fidei donum of the diocese of Roraima, Brazil.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Lucio Nicoletti was born on 18 August 1972 in Este, diocese of Padua, Italy. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Seminary of Padua and obtained a licentiate in biblical theology from the Pontificia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro-RJ.

He received priestly ordination on 7 June 1998 and was incardinated in the diocese of Padua.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar in Selvazzano Dentro (1998-2001) and vocational animator (2001-2005), priest fidei donum in Brazil (since 2005), rector of the diocesan seminary, head of vocational pastoral care and member of the College of Consultors in the diocese of Duque de Caxias-RJ (2005-2016). Since 2016 he has served as vicar general of the diocese of Roraima-RR, of which he was also diocesan administrator during the sede vacante period (2022).

 

Appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Aracaju, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Josafá Menezes da Silva as metropolitan archbishop of Aracaju, Brazil, transferring him from the metropolitan see of Vitória da Conquista.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Josafá Menezes da Silva was born on 2 January 1959 in Salinas da Margarida, in the archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahía, in the State of Bahía. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Universidade Católica de Salvador-BA and in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome, and subsequently obtained a licentiate and doctorate in theological anthropology from the Pontifical Lateran University of Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 14 May 1989, and incardinated in the archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahía.

He has held the following offices: parish priest of São João Batista in Salvador-BA, vice rector and then rector of the Preparatory Seminary, vicar forane, adjunct archdiocesan bursar, professor Universidade Católica de Salvador-BA and at the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences (Salvador-BA Section).

On 12 January 2005 he was appointed titular bishop of Gummi in Byzacena and auxiliary of São Salvador da Bahía, and received episcopal ordination the following 10 March. He was transferred on 15 December 2010 as bishop of Barreiras, and on 6 October 2019 he was appointed metropolitan archbishop of Vitória da Conquista.

Within the Nordeste 3 Regional section of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil, he is chair of the Commission for Communication.

 

Appointment of bishop of Bom Jesus da Lapa, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Rubival Cabral Britto, O.F.M. Cap., as bishop of the diocese of Bom Jesus da Lapa, Brazil, transferring him from the see of Grajaú.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Rubival Cabral Britto, O.F.M. Cap., was born on 21 July 1969 in Jaguaquara, in the diocese of Jequié, in the State of Bahía.

He carried out his studies in philosophy in Ilhéus-BA and in theology at the Universidade Católica do Salvador-BA.

On 31 January 1993 he gave his religious vows in the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, and was ordained a priest on 17 December 2000.

He has held the following offices: vocational promoter, formator of the postulantate and the post-novitiate, provincial secretary and bursar, parish administrator, provincial definitor for Missions, master of novices, provincial minister, and director of the Colégio Paulo VI in Vitória da Conquista-BA.

On 7 December 2016 he was appointed bishop of Grajaú and received episcopal ordination on 11 February 2017.

 

Appointment of bishop of Viviers, France

The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Hervé Giraud as bishop of Viviers, France, transferring him from the archepiscopal see of Sens, maintaining the title of archbishop ad personam.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Hervé Giraud was born in Tournon, diocese of Viviers, on 26 February 1957. After his secondary school studies, he attended university in Lyon and taught mathematics. He entered the interdiocesan seminary of Lyon, concluding his theological formation with a licentiate in moral theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, and with admission to the doctoral programme at the Institut Catholique de Paris.

He was ordained a priest on 22 September 1985 for the diocese of Viviers.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar in the diocese of Viviers, professor at the Institut Pastoral d’Etudes Religieuses in Lyon and the Abbey of Champagne, formator at the Seminary of Lyon, and rector (1997-2003). He held the office of Secrétaire du Conseil National des Grands Séminaires et Secrétaire de la Commission épiscopale pour les ministères ordonnés (1999-2003).

He was appointed titular bishop of Silli and auxiliary of Lyon in April 2003, and ordained the following 25 May. In November 2007 he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Soissons, becoming ordinary on 22 February 2008. On 5 March 2015 he was transferred to the archepiscopal see of Sens, ad appointed prelate of the territorial prelature of the Mission de France. Within the French Episcopal Conference he is chair of the Committee for the Mission de France.
