Appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Monrovia, Liberia

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Gabriel Blamo Jubwe, of the clergy of Monrovia, diocesan administrator and parish priest of Saint Pius X, as metropolitan archbishop of Monrovia, Liberia.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Gabriel Blamo Jubwe was born on 7 September 1958 in Lagos, Nigeria. After completing his formation at the Saint Paul Major Seminary in Gbarnga, Liberia, he was ordained a priest on 18 December 1983 for the archdiocese of Monrovia.

After ordination, he first held various pastoral roles in the archdiocese (1983-1986). He was awarded a doctorate in liturgy from the Pontifical Athenaeum of Saint Anselm (1986-1991) and went on to serve as administrator of the Cathedral of Monrovia, director of the diocesan Pastoral Centre, member of the Justice and Peace Commission of the Liberian Council of Churches and Interreligious Council of Liberia (1992-1996), rector of the Queen of Apostles Minor Seminary and the Saint Charles Lwanga Preparatory Seminary of Monrovia (1996-1999), vicar general of the archdiocese of Monrovia (1996-2000), secretary general of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Liberia (1998-2001), director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (1999-2004), rector of the Saint Paul Major Seminary in Gbarnga (2001-2007), and member of the College of Consultors of the archdiocese of Monrovia (2006-2021).

He is the author of several texts, as well as radio broadcasts, and is a member of various boards. He is parish priest of Saint Pius X, and since 2021, diocesan administrator of Monrovia.

 

Appointment of archbishop of Strasbourg, France

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Pascal Delannoy, until now bishop of Saint-Denis, as archbishop of Strasbourg, France.

Curriculum vitae

Archbishop-elect Pascal Delannoy was born on 2 April 1957 in Comines, in the archdiocese of Lille. At the end of his studies in economic sciences at the Université Catholique de Lille, and after practicing as an accountant, he entered the major seminary in Lille, where he received his formation for the priesthood.

He was ordained a priest on 4 June 1989 for the diocese of Lille.

He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest of Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Roubaix and of Saint-Paul in Hem, with responsibility for Apostolic Movements in the Roubaix-Centre deanery (1989-1997), head of independent environments for the entire area of Roubaix (1991-1999), dean of Roubaix-Centre (1997-1999), dean of Bailleul (1999-2003), episcopal vicar of the Flandres area (1999-2004), dean of Houtland and delegate to the rural mission (2003-2004).

He was appointed titular bishop of Usinaza and auxiliary of Lille on 30 June 2004, and was consecrated the following 12 September. On 10 March 2009 he was transferred to the episcopal see of Saint-Denis.

Within the French Episcopal Conference, he is chair of the Council of Solidarity and of the Diaconate.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Curitiba, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Adenis Roberto de Oliveira, S.d.P., parish priest of Santo Antônio in Igarapé-MG and rector of the Mater Misericordiae Major Seminary of the Missionary Servants of the Poor, assigning him the titular see of Hermiana.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Adenis Roberto de Oliveira, S.d.P., was born on 8 July 1974 in Vargem Bonita, diocese of Joaçaba, in the State of Santa Catarina. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Faculdade São Basílio Magno in Curitiba-PR, and in theology at the Studium Theologicum in Curitiba-PR. He was subsequently awarded a licentiate in moral theology from the Alphonsianum Academy of Rome.

In 1996 he gave his religious vows in the Congregation of Missionary Servants of the Poor, and on 15 September 2001 he received priestly ordination.

He has held the following offices: counsellor general of his Congregation in Rome (2006-2018), parish priest of Cristo Rei in Ibicaré-SC (2002-2005), São Marcos in Curitiba-PR (2005-2006) and Santa Maria della Perseveranza in Rome (2015-2022).

He currently exercises his ministry in Igarapé-MG, diocese of Divinópolis, as parish priest of Santo Antônio and rector of the Mater Misericordiae Major Seminary of the Missionary Servants of the Poor.
