Appointment of members of the Council of the Section for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Secretariat of State

The Holy Father has appointed the following as members of the Council of the Section for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Secretariat of State: His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization in the Section for first evangelization and the new particular Churches; His Eminence Cardinal Michael Czerny, S.J., prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development; His Eminence Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti, prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches; the Reverend Fr. Giulio Albanese, M.C.C.J., director of the Social Communications Office and the Office for Missionary Cooperation between the Churches and the Vicariate of Rome, Italy.

 

Resignation and appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Caceres, Philippines

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Caceres, Philippines, presented by Archbishop Rolando Joven T. Tirona, O.C.D.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Rex Andrew C. Alarcon as metropolitan archbishop of the archdiocese of Caceres, Philippines, transferring him from the diocese of Daet.

Curriculum vitae

Archbishop-elect Rex Andrew C. Alarcon was born in Daet, Camarines Norte, in the diocese of Daet, Philippines, on 6 August 1970. After completing high school and courses in philosophy at the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary of Naga, he studied theology at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.

He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Caceres on 9 November 1996.

After ordination, he held the roles of parish vicar of Saint John the Evangelist in Naga and educator in the minor seminary (1996-1997) and secretary to the archbishop (1997-1999). He was awarded a licentiate in Church history from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (1999-2001), and went on to serve as a teacher at the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary, director of the Stewardship Program of the archdiocese of Caceres, superintendent of the Naga Parochial School and president of the Catholic Association of Education, superintendent of Catholic Schools in the archdiocese, member of the College of Consultors and spokesperson of the same archdiocese, and president of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines.

He was elected bishop of Daet on 2 January 2019, and consecrated the following 19 March.

 

Appointment of bishop of Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Jorge Luis Wagner, until now titular bishop of Gergis and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Bahía Blanca, as bishop of the diocese of Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Jorge Luis Wagner was born in Guaminí, archdiocese of Bahía Blanca, on 19 January 1967. He attended the years of philosophy at the seminary of the diocese of Azul, and carried out his theological studies at the seminary of the archdiocese of Mercedes-Luján. He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Bahía Blanca on 2 September 1993.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar, parish priest of various communities, episcopal delegate for youth pastoral ministry, episcopal delegate for catechesis, professor at the Higher Institute of the Salesian Fathers in Bahía Blanca, coordinator of the archdiocesan Council for Catechesis; member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors, and vicar general.

On 24 September 2019, he was appointed titular bishop of Gergis and auxiliary bishop of Bahía Blanca, receiving episcopal ordination the following 16 November. He is currently a member of the Episcopal Commission for Catechesis, Animation and Biblical Pastoral in the Argentine Episcopal Conference.

 

Appointment of coadjutor bishop of San Isidro, Argentina

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Guillermo Caride, until now titular of Iomnium and auxiliary of the diocese of San Isidro, Argentina, as coadjutor bishop of the same ecclesiastical circumscription.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Guillermo Caride was born on 25 May 1962 in Buenos Aires. On 5 December 1986 he was appointed a priest for the diocese of San Isidro.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar, formator of the San Agustín diocesan seminary, parish priest of various communities, and vicar general.

On 26 October 2018 he was appointed titular bishop of Iomnium and auxiliary of San Isidro, receiving episcopal ordination the following 7 December. Within the Argentine Episcopal Conference, he is chair of the Council of Economic Affairs.

 

Erection of the diocese of Boké, Guinea, and appointment of first bishop

The Holy Father has erected the new diocese of Boké, Guinea, with territory taken from the archdiocese of Conakry.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Moïse Tinguiano, of the clergy of Conakry, until now parish priest of Saint Augustin of Taouyah, as first bishop of the new ecclesiastical circumscription.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Moïse Tinguiano was born on 11 December 1977 in Benty. He entered the Saint Jean XXIII Preparatory Seminary in Kindia, and studied philosophy and theology in the Saint Augustin Samayah Major Seminary in Bamako.

He was ordained a priest on 26 November 2006.

After ordination, he first served as parish vicar of Cristo-Re in Fria (2006-2009) and parish priest of Sacred Heart and Saint Peter in Sangaredi (2010-2011). He was awarded a doctorate in catechetical theology and youth pastoral ministry from the Salesian Pontifical University (2011-2017). He carried out pastoral activity in the diocese of Vittorio Veneto (2013-2016) and in the diocese of Città del Castello (2016-2017).

Since 2018 he has held the roles of parish priest in Saint Augustin – Taouyah, Conakry, professor in the Benoît XVI Seminary, and director of La Voix de la Paix Catholic radio station.
