Resignation and appointment of bishop of Portland, U.S.A.

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Portland, United States of America, presented by Bishop Robert Peter Deeley.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend James T. Ruggieri, of the clergy of the diocese of Providence, until now parish priest of Saint Patrick and Saint Michael in Providence, as bishop of Portland, United States of America.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. James T. Ruggieri was born on 12 January 1968 in Providence, in the diocese of the same name. After carrying out his ecclesiastical studies at Our Lady of Providence Seminary, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Providence College and a Master of Divinity from Saint Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore.

He was ordained a priest on 24 June 1995 for the diocese of Providence.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Saint Matthew in Cranston (1995-1998), Saint Aloysius, Saint Ann and Our Lady of Victories in Woonsocket (1998-2001), and Holy Spirit in Central Falls (2001-2003); parish priest of Saint Patrick in Providence (since 2003); administrator of Saint Casimir in Providence (2004-2011) and Saint John the Baptist in Pawtucket (2005-2006); since 2021, parish priest of Saint Michael in Providence.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Nakhon Sawan, Thailand

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, presented by Bishop Joseph Pibul Visitnondachai.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Paul Tawat Singsa, of the clergy of the same diocese, until now parish priest of the Holy Name of Jesus parish, as bishop of the diocese of Nakhon Sawan.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Paul Tawat Singsa was born on 13 March 1966 in Ban Mi, in the diocese of Nakhon Sawan. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at Lux Mundi College. He was awarded a licentiate in missiology from the Pontifical Urban University of Rome, and a doctorate in philosophy from Silpakorn University in Bangkok.

He was ordained a priest on 24 October 1992 for the clergy of Nakhon Sawan.

He has held the following offices: head of evangelization and employment of the Karen ethnic group in the north of the diocese; director of the Diocesan Action Center – Charity Work in Maeramet (1992-1999); director of the Pataravitaya School and parish priest of Saint Theresa in Maesod (2005-2011); professor and formator in the Lux Mundi National Major Seminary in Sampran (2012-2019); since 2020, parish priest of Holy Name of Jesus in Ban Mi and director of the Phraworasarn School.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishops of Nairobi, Kenya

The Holy Father has appointed the following as auxiliary bishops of the metropolitan archdiocese of Nairobi, Kenya: the Reverend Simon Peter Kamomoe, of the clergy of the same archdiocese, until now administrator of the Holy Family Basilica Cathedral in Nairobi, assigning him the titular see of Thubunae in Numidia; the Reverend Wallace Ng’ang’a Gachihi, of the local clergy, until now parish priest and coordinator of archdiocesan pastoral ministry, assigning him the titular see of Thucca in Mauretania.

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Simon Peter Kamomoe

Msgr. Simon Peter Kamomoe was born on 26 Novembeer 1962 in Gatundu, district of Kiambu, in the archdiocese of Nairobi. After attending Saint Mary’s Major Seminary in Molo, he studied philosophy at Saint Augustine’s Senior Seminary in Mabanga and theology at Saint Matthias Mulumba Senior Seminary in Tindinyo.

He was ordained a priest on 18 June 1994 for the archdiocese of Nairobi.

Since ordination, he has served as assistant at the Queen of Apostles Junior Seminary of Nairobi (1994-1995); assistant in the parishes of Thigio (1995), Mang’u (1995-1996), Ndundu (1996-1997), and Saint Matthias Mulumba in Thika (1997-1998); parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima in Kiriko (1998-1999); parish priest of Saints Peter and Paul in Kiambu and, at the same time, vicar forane as well as member of the College of Consultors (1999-2008). Since 2008 he has served as administrator of the Holy Family Basilica Cathedral of Nairobi and chaplain of the diocesan office for family pastoral care.

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Wallace Ng’ang’a Gachihi

Msgr. Wallace Ng’ang’a Gachihi was born on 26 March 1973 in Gatundu, district of Kiambu, in the archdiocese of Nairobi. After attending Saint Mary’s Major Seminary in Molo, he studied philosophy at Saint Augustine’s Senior Seminary in Mabanga and theology at Saint Matthias Mulumba Senior Seminary in Tindinyo.

He was ordained a priest on 21 May 2005, incardinated in the archdiocese of Nairobi.

After ordination, he first held the roles of assistant (2005-2006) and then parish priest of Saints Peter and Paul in Kiambu (2006-2009). He studied for a master’s degree in pastoral theology at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa-CUEA) (2009-2011) and served at the same time as assistant in the Regina Coeli parish in Karen (2009-2015); since 2015 he has been parish priest of Christ the King in Embakasi and, since 2011, coordinator of archdiocesan pastoral ministry. He is a member of the College of Consultors.
