Resignation of metropolitan archbishop of Cascavel, Brazil

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Cascavel, Brazil, presented by Archbishop Adelar Baruffi.

 

Resignation and appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Huancayo, Peru

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Huancayo, Peru, presented by His Eminence Cardinal Pedro Ricardo Barreto Jimeno, S.J.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Luis Alberto Huamán Camayo, O.M.I., as metropolitan archbishop of the archdiocese of Huancayo, Peru, transferring him from the titular see of Tepelta and the office of auxiliary bishop of the same archdiocese.

Curriculum vitae

Archbishop-elect Luis Alberto Huamán was born on 5 February 1970 in Tarma, Peru, in the diocese of the same name. He studied civil engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and philosophy at the Facultad de Teologia Pontificia y Civil de Lima and the Universidad de Cochabamba, Bolivia; after attending the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome and the Universidad de Cochabamba, he was awarded a licentiate in spiritual theology from the Universidad Católica Boliviana.

On 10 January 1997 he gave his first religious vows in the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, and subsequently gave his perpetual vows in Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 6 October 2001 in Tarma.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Cristo Rey in Pueblo Nuevo, Chincha, diocese of Ica; promotor of the Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús Parish School, Chincha (2001-2003); superior of the “BOLPER” international post-novitiate in Cochabamba and teacher at the Interreligiosa de Nazaret (2004-2008); parish vicar of San Eugenio in Villa Pagador, Cochabamba (2004-2005); prison chaplain in Cochabamba (2006-2007); bursar of the Delegation of his Congregation in Peru (2008-2010); professor at the Conference of Religious of Peru (2009-2011); parish priest of Nuestra Señora de la Paz in Comas, diocese of Carabayllo in Peru (2009-2013); superior of the General Delegation of the Oblates of Peru (2014-2016); member of the General Council for Latin America and the Caribbean in Rome (2016-2021).

On 21 May 2021 he was elected titular bishop of Tepelta and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Huancayo, receiving episcopal ordination the following 16 June.

 

Appointment of bishop of Morombe, Madagascar

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Jean Désiré Razafinirina, of the clergy of the diocese of Toliara, until now rector and professor at the Saint Jean Baptiste Major Seminary of Vohitsoa, as bishop of the diocese of Morombe, Madagascar.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Jean Désiré Razafinirina was born on 5 May 1975 in Morombe, in the archdiocese of Toliara. He attended the Saint Jean Baptiste Major Seminary in Vohitsoa and was subsequently awarded a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Urban University of Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 10 August 2003 for the clergy of Toliara.

He has held the following offices: educator in the minor seminary of Toliara, vicar in Andranovory (2003-2004) and vicar of the Cathedral (2004-2005); parish priest of Notre Dame de l’Assomption in Sakaraha (2005-2007); parish priest of the Cathedral of Toliara and member of the College of Consultors (2010-2013); formator of the major seminary of Vohitsoa, Fianarantsoa (2013-2017); since 2017, rector and formator of the major seminary of Vohitsoa, Fianarantsoa.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Dodoma, Tanzania

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Wilbroad Henry Kibozi, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Dodoma, until now vice rector and professor at the Holy Family Major Seminary in Kahama, as auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Dodoma, assigning him the titular see of Zallata.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Wilbroad Henry Kibozi was born on 30 April 1973 in Dodoma. He studied philosophy at the major seminary of Ntungamo in Bukoba, and theology at the major seminary of Kipalapala in Tabora. After a year of pastoral service in the Saint John the Baptist parish in Chalinza, Dodoma, he was awarded a licentiate and a doctorate in dogmatic theology from the Theological Faculty of Central Italy in Florence.

He was ordained a priest on 9 July 2010 for the clergy of Dodoma.

He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest of Lumuma (2010-2012); director of vocations in Dodoma (2012-2014); confessor in the House of Formation in Livorno (2017-2020); since 2020, vice rector and professor in the Holy Family Major Seminary of Kahama.
