FOR THE FUNERAL OF

HIS EMINENCE CARDINAL SERGIO SEBASTIANI

On Wednesday 17 January, at 14.30, at the Altar of the Confessio of Saint Peter’s Basilica, the funeral of His Eminence Cardinal Sergio Sebastiani, of the Title of Sant’Eustachio, president emeritus of the Prefecture of Economic Affairs of the Holy See, will take place.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, dean of the College of Cardinals, together with the Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops.

At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration, the Holy Father Francis will preside over the rite of the Ultima Commendatio and the Valedictio.

The Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops who wish to concelebrate must be present at 14.00 at the Sacristy of Saint Peter’s Basilica in order to put on their liturgical vestments, bringing with them: for the Cardinals, the white damask mitre, and for the Archbishops and Bishops, the simple white mitre.

Those who, in accordance with the Motu Proprio “Pontificalis Domus”, form part of the Papal Chapel and wish to participate in the Sacred Rite, wearing their own complete choral habit, are requested to be present at 14.00 at the Altar of the Cathedra to occupy the place to be indicated to them.
