Appointment of vicar apostolic of Rodrigues, Mauritius
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Michel Moura, of the clergy of the diocese of Port-Louis, until now director of the Pontifical Mission Societies for the territories of the Episcopal Conference of the Indian Ocean and episcopal vicar of the diocese of Port-Louis, as vicar apostolic of Rodrigues, Mauritius.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Michel Moura was born on 28 September 1963 in Vacoas-Phoenix in Mauritius.
He was ordained a priest on 6 August 2006 for the diocese of Port-Louis.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar (2006-2009) and then parish priest (2009-2011) of Saint Sauveur, Bambous; diocesan chaplain of Jeunesse ouvrière chrétienne (J.O.C.) (2008-2011); vicar (2011-2012) and subsequently administrator of the Saint Louis Cathedral, Port-Louis; parish priest of Saint Cœur de Marie, Port-Mathurin, Rodrigues (2016-2017); parish priest of Saint Esprit, Bel Air; vicar general and secretary of the Presbyteral Council (since 2018). From 2020 to date, he has served as director of the Pontifical Mission Societies for the territories of the Episcopal Conference of the Indian Ocean (C.E.D.O.I.) and, since 2023, episcopal vicar for family pastoral care of the diocese of Port-Louis. He is also a member of the Presbyteral Council and chaplain of the Équipe Notre-Dame.
