This morning, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the Holy Father Francis received in audience His Excellency Mr. Michael Trias Kuncahyono, ambassador of Indonesia to the Holy See, on the occasion of the presentation of his credential letters.

The following is a brief biography of the new ambassador:

His Excellency Mr. Michael Trias Kuncahyono was born in Yogyakarta on 11 June 1958, and is married with a son.

He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Gadjah Mada University (1983).

He has held the following offices, among others: head of the legal section, Kompas (1994-1995); head of the political and security section, Kompas (1995-1996); head of the international section, Kompas (1996-2000); deputy editor-in-chief, Warta Kota (1999-2000); managing editor, Kompas (2000-2007); deputy editor-in-chief, Warta Kota (2007-2018).
