Resignation and appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Campobasso-Boiano, Italy
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Campobasso-Boiano, Italy, presented by Archbishop Giancarlo Maria Bregantini, C.S.S.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Biagio Colaianni, of the clergy of Matera-Irsina, vicar general and moderator of the Curia, as metropolitan archbishop of Campobasso-Boiano, Italy.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Biagio Colaianni was born in Matera, in the province and archdiocese of the same name, on 3 June 1957. He carried out his studies at the San Luigi Pontifical Seminary of Southern Italy in Naples.
He was ordained a priest on 9 May 1984, and was incardinated in the diocese of Matera. He was awarded a licentiate in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome.
He has held the following offices: custodian of the Cathedral Chapter (1979-1988); vice retor of the Matera Minor Seminary (1983-1985); parish priest of San Giovanni Battista in Ferrandina (1988-2005); teacher of religion (1989-1997); moderator of the pastoral units of San Giovanni Battista in Ferrandina, Sacro Cuore in Borgo Macchia and San Michele Arcangelo in Pomarico (1998-1999); vice rector of the Giovanni Paolo II Interdiocesan Major Seminary of Basilicata in Potenza (2005-2006) and then rector (2007-2012); member of the diocesan Presbyteral Council (1989-1993; 2001-2004; 2005; 2009-2014); vicar forane of the Collina zone (2001-2005); A.G.E.S.C.I. ecclesiastical assistant for Associative Formation Camps (1990-2005); member of the Regional Presbyteral Commission, member of the Regional Vocations Centre, C.E.B. delegate for the coordination of formation to the priesthood implemented in the Minor Seminary, the preparatory course and the Major Seminary (2007-2012); regional delegate of the Apostolic Union of the Clergy (2008-2009); member of the National Presbyteral Commission (2008-2012); director of the diocesan Vocations Centre (2011-2018); auditor of the College of Auditors of the I.D.S.C. of Matera (2014-2018); vicar forane of the city of Matera (2016-2019); area spiritual assistant of the Italian Catholic Guides and Scouts Association (2016-2020); delegate of the Synodal Path for the Tenth Diocesan Synod of the archdiocese of Matera-Irsina (2017-2018); and member of the College of Consultors (2018-2023).
He is currently parish priest of San Giacomo in Matera; since 2019, vicar general of the archdiocese and moderator of the Curia; since 2020, member of the Episcopal Council; since 2021, canon of the Cathedral Chapter of Matera; and since 2023, member of the Presbyteral Council.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Arachchige Don Wimal Siri Appuhamy Jayasuriya, of the clergy of the diocese of Chilaw, Sri Lanka, until now parish priest of Saint Mary Mother of God and judge of the diocesan tribunal of Fort Wayne-South Bend, United States of America, as bishop of Chilaw, Sri Lanka.

Msgr. Arachchige Don Wimal Siri Appuhamy Jayasuriya was born on 23 January 1969 in Negombo, in the archdiocese of Colombo. After attending the minor seminary of Chilaw, he concluded his studies in philosophy and theology at the Our Lady of Lanka National Major Seminary in Kandy.
He was ordained a priest on 9 August 1997 for the clergy of Chilaw.
After ordination, he first held the role of parish vicar of Saint Sebastian, Katuneriya (1997-1998), the Shrine of Saint Anne, Talawila (1998-1999); and Saint Joseph, Wennappuwa (1999-2000). He was awarded a licentiate and a doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical Urbanian University of Rome (2000-2005), and went on to serve as judicial vicar of Chilaw (2006-2012), teacher in the Our Lady of Lanka National Major Seminary in Kandy and dean of the Department of Theology (2013-2019); since 2019, judge in the diocesan tribunal of Fort Wayne-South Bend, in the United States of America, parish vicar of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne-South Bend (2019-2020); and since 2020, parish priest of Saint Mary Mother of God, Fort Wayne-South Bend.
