The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Brazil, presented by Bishop Edson Tasquetto Damian.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Raimundo Vanthuy Neto, of the clergy of the diocese of Roraima rector of the diocesan Shrine of Nossa Senhora Aparecida and of the preparatory seminary, as bishop of the diocese of São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Brazil.

Msgr Raimundo Vanthuy Neto was born on 10 May 1973 in Pau dos Ferros, diocese of Mossoró, in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Cristo Sacerdote seminary in Manaus-AM and in theology at the São José archdiocesan seminary in Manaus. He was subsequently awarded a licentiate in missiology from the Pontifical Faculty of Theology Nossa Senhora da Assunção in São Paulo-SP.
He was ordained a priest on 3 June 2001, and was incardinated in the diocese of Roraima.
He has held the following offices: parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Consolata in Boa Vista-RR (2001-2004) and of Cristo Redentor in Boa Vista-RR (2004-2013); director of the Instituto de Teologia Pastoral e Ensino Superior da Amazônia in Manaus-AM (2014-2017); vicar of the Área Missionaria do Cantá (2017-2018); chancellor of the Curia and member of the College of Consultors; auditor at the Synod of Bishops for Amazonia (2019). In addition, he has served as professor of history of Christianity in Amazonia at the Catholic Universities of Paraná, Pelotas and Porto Alegre, as well as in the Universidade Federal de Roraima.
He is currently rector of the diocesan Shrine of Nossa Senhora Aparecida and of the preparatory seminary.
Appointment of coadjutor archbishop of Maceió, Brazil
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Carlos Alberto Breis Pereira, O.F.M., as coadjutor archbishop of Maceió, Brazil, transferring him from the diocese of Juazeiro.

Bishop Carlos Alberto Breis Pereira, O.F.M., was born on 16 September 1965 in São Francisco do Sul, diocese of Joinville, in the State of Santa Catarina. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Instituto de Teologia do Recife-ITER in Recife-PE and in theology at the Instituto Franciscano de Teologia de Olinda-IFTO in Olinda-PE. He was awarded a licentiate in spiritual theology at the Pontifical University “Antonianum” of Rome.
On 10 January 1987 he gave his religious vows in the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor and was ordained a priest on 20 August 1994.
He has held the following offices: parish priest, master of the professed, provincial secretary, guardian and provincial definitor, provincial vicar, moderator of permanent formation, coordinator of the formation service of the Franciscan Conference in Brazil, and provincial minister of the Franciscan province of Santo Antonio based in Recife-PE.
On 17 February 2016 he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Juazeiro and received episcopal ordination the following 7 May. On 7 September 2016 he became ordinary bishop.
He is currently president of the Regional Nordeste 3 of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil, which includes the ecclesiastical circumscriptions of the States of Bahia and Sergipe.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Edivalter Andrade as bishop of the diocese of Parnaíba, Brazil, transferring him from the diocese of Floriano.

Bishop Edivalter Andrade was born on 17 April 1962 in Barra de São Francisco, diocese of São Mateus, in the State of Espírito Santo. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Instituto de Filosofia e Teologia da Arquidiocese de Vitória-IFTAV in Vitória-ES. He subsequently attended courses for seminary formators and a course in social service at the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo.
He was ordained a priest on 8 October 1989, and incardinated in the diocese of São Mateus.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of São Francisco de Assis in Barra de São Francisco-ES; parish priest in Jaguaré-RS and of the cathedral; diocesan pastoral coordinator; director of diocesan Caritas; bursar; director of Radio Kairós; member of the Presbyteral Council; vicar forane.
On 29 March 2017 he was appointed bishop of Floriano and received episcopal consecration the following 10 June.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Alcivan Tadeus Gomes de Araújo, of the clergy of the diocese of Caicó, parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Conceição in Jardim do Seridó-RN, as auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Paraíba, Brazil, assigning him the titular see of Fata.

Msgr. Alcivan Tadeus Gomes de Araújo was born on 21 May 1972 in Cerro Corá, diocese of Caicó, in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology in the São José archdiocesan seminary in Rio de Janeiro-RJ. He was subsequently awarded a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome.
He was ordained a priest on 1 February 1997, and incardinated in the diocese of Caicó.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Sant’Ana and of Imaculada Conceição in Currais Novos-RN and São João Batista in Cerro Corá-RN; parish administrator of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios in Cruzeta-RN; parish priest of São Francisco in Lagoa Nova-RN, São Sebastião in Parelhas-RN and of the diocesan cathedral; rector of the diocesan seminary; representative of the clergy; member of the College of Consultors and the Presbyteral Council; vicar general; judge auditor; episcopal vicar for vocations and ministries; and judicial vicar.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Joaquim Hudson de Souza Ribeiro, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Manaus, Brazil, parish priest of the cathedral and director of the Faculdade Católica do Amazonas, as auxiliary bishop of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Macri.

Msgr. Joaquim Hudson de Souza Ribeiro was born on 31 August 1973 in Parintins, in the diocese of the same name, in the State of Amazonas. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology in the San José archdiocesan seminary, and attended the course in psychology at the Centro Universitário do Norte-UNINORTE in Manaus-AM. He was subsequently awarded a licentiate in international cooperation from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, and a doctorate in human geography from the Universidade de São Paulo-USP in São Paulo-USP.
He was ordained a priest on 12 October 1999, and incardinated in the archdiocese of Manaus.
