Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Manaus, Brazil
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Zenildo Lima da Silva, of the clergy of Manaus, Brazil, until now rector of the São José Archdiocesan Seminary, as auxiliary bishop of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Maraguia.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Zenildo Lima da Silva was born on 14 October 1968 in Manaus, in the archdiocese of the same name, in the State of Amazonas. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the São José Archdiocesan Seminary and was awarded a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
On 4 August 1996 he received priestly ordination, and was incardinated in the archdiocese of Manaus.
He has held the following offices: parish priest in Manaus of the parishes of São Lázaro (1997-1998), Santa Cruz (2000-2002), Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora (2003-2005) and São Raimundo (2007-2011; 2015-2016); coordinator of vocational pastoral care of the archdiocese and of the Regional Norte I of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (1995-1996); coordinator of presbyteral pastoral care of the archdiocese and of the Regional Norte I of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (1997-1998); director of the Instituto Superior de Teologia, Pastoral e Ensino Superior da Amazônia (2006-2013); member of the College of Consultors, the Presbyteral Council and the Administrative Council of the archdiocese; secretary of the National Commission of Priests (2004-2008); executive secretary of the Regional Norte I of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (2012-2015); vice president of the Organização dos Seminários e Institutos do Brasil-OSIB (2018-2022); auditor of the Synod of Bishops for Amazonia (2019).
From 2016 to the present, he has served as rector of the São José Archdiocesan Seminary.
