The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Giuseppe Alberti, of the clergy of the diocese of Padua, parish priest of Santa Maria Assunta in Solesino, as bishop of Oppido Mamertina-Palmi, Italy.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Giuseppe Alberti was born on 17 June 1965 in Este, in the province and diocese of Padua. After attending the minor seminary of Padua, he completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the major seminary.
He was ordained a priest on 10 June 1990 for the diocese of Padua.
After ordination, he was an assistant in the minor seminary of Padua (1995-1998). He was awarded a licentiate in pastoral theology from the Theological Faculty of Triveneto, and went on to serve as a missionary fidei donum in Ecuador to follow the formation process of seminarians from the diocese of Tulcán in the Nuestra Señora de la Paz Seminary and to teach philosophy and theology (since 2000); rector of the major seminary and pastoral collaborator in parishes of Tulcán; coordinator of studies and member of the College of Consultors; member of the organization and coordination group of the diocesan and national phase of the III American Missionary Congress of Quito (2008); ,oderator of the Pastoral Unit of Villafranca Padovana (since 2011); and vicar forane of the vicariate of Limena (since 2013). He is currently parish priest of Santa Maria Assunta in Solesino.
Resignation and appointment of bishop of Culiacán, Mexico
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Culiacán, Mexico, presented by Bishop Jonás Guerrero Corona.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Jesús José Herrera Quiñónez, hitherto of Nuevo Casas Grandes, as bishop of Culiacán, Mexico.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Jesús José Herrera Quiñónez was born on 20 December 1961 in Mexicali, Mexico. He studied philosophy at the seminary of Morelia, and theology at the seminary of Tijuana.
He received episcopal ordination on 20 December 1987, and was incardinated in the diocese of Mexicali. He was awarded a licentiate in marriage and family studies from the Pontifical “John Paul II” Institute in Rome. He has served as seminary formator and parish priest in various parishes.
On 27 October 2011 he was appointed bishop of Nuevo Casas Grandes, receiving episcopal consecration the following 15 December.
Within the Mexican Episcopal Conference, he is head of the Life Sector of the Episcopal Commission for Family, Youth, Adolescence, the Laity, and Life.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Joseph Đặng Đức Ngân, until now bishop of the diocese of Ðà Nang, Viêt Nam, as coadjutor archbishop of the archdiocese of Huê, Viêt Nam.

Archbishop-elect Joseph Đặng Đức Ngân was born on 16 June 1957 in Hanoi. He attended the major seminary of Hanoi, and subsequently the Pontifical Urbanian University of Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in canon law.
He received priestly ordination on 8 December 1987, and was ordained a bishop on 3 December 2007.
He has held the following offices: parish priest of Thuong Thuy and Co Nhue (1988-1993); professor in the major seminary of Hanoi (1999-2006); secretary to the archbishop (1999-2002); secretary of the Episcopal Conference (2000-2007); episcopal vicar (2001-2003); parish priest of the Cathedral of Hanoi and vicar general (2003-2007); and bishop of Lang Són et Cao Bang (2007-2016). From 2016 to date he has been bishop of Ðà Nang.
Appointment of bishop of Setúbal, Portugal
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Américo Manuel Alves Aguiar as bishop of the diocese of Setúbal, Portugal, transferring him from the titular see of Dagnum and the office of auxiliary of the patriarchate of Lisboa.

Bishop Américo Manuel Alves Aguiar was born on 12 December 1973 in Leça do Balio, municipality of Matosinhos, in the diocese of Porto. After studying philosophy in the seminary of Ermesinde and the major seminary of the diocese of Porto, he studied theology at the Universidad Católica Portuguesa in Porto, and was awarded a master’s degree in communication sciences in Lisbon.
He received priestly ordination on 8 July 2001, and was incardinated in the diocese of Porto.
He has held the following positions: parish priest of São Pedro de Azevedo and parish priest in solidum of the Cathedral; notary of the diocesan Curia; regional assistant of the National Scout Corps; head of the Communication Office; senior chaplain of the Igreja da Misericórdia in Porto; vice-rector of the Santuário de Santa Rita in Ermesinde; member of the Cathedral Chapter; vicar general; chair of the Board of Directors of the Rádio Renascença and director of the National Secretariat of Social Communication.
On 1 March 2019, he was appointed titular bishop of Dagnum and auxiliary of the Patriarchate of Lisboa, receiving episcopal ordination on the following 31 March.
He was also in charge of the organization of World Youth Day Lisboa 2023.
He will be created Cardinal in the forthcoming Consistory on 30 September.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Habila Tyiakwonaboi Daboh, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Kaduna, until now rector of the Good Shepherd Major Seminary in Kaduna, as bishop of the diocese of Zaria, Nigeria.

Msgr. Habila Tyiakwonaboi Daboh was born on 10 June 1970 in the area of Zangon Kataf, in the archdiocese of Kaduna, Nigeria. After attending Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Makurdi and Saint Augustine’s Major Seminary in Jos, he was ordained a priest o 10 July 1999 for the archdiocese of Kaduna.
Following ordination, he first served as parish vicar at Saint Joseph's Cathedral in Kaduna (1999-2003) and chaplain of the Federal Kaduna Polytechnic (2001-2003). After obtaining a licentiate in Church History at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2003-2006), he went on to hold the roles of parish priest at the Queen of Apostles in Kakuri, Kaduna (2006-2008) and to receive a diploma in education from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria (2009). He was a lecturer at the Good Shepherd Major Seminary in Kaduna (2006-2008); rector of Saint Peter's Minor Seminary in Katari, Kaduna (2008-2016); and dean of the Dogon Kuron Deanery in Katari (2008-2016). He was awarded a doctorate in Church history from the University of Jos (2019). From 2016 to date he has been rector of the Good Shepherd Major Seminary in Kaduna and collaborator at Saint Stephen's parish in Juji.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Lourdu Anandam, of the clergy of Madurai, until now parish priest of the Holy Rosary parish, as bishop of the diocese of Sivagangai, India.

Msgr. Lourdu Anandam was born on 15 August 1958 in Thiruvarangam, in the diocese of Sivagangai. After studying philosophy at Arul Anandar College in Madurai and theology at Saint Paul's Seminary in Tiruchirappalli, he received his doctorate in systematic theology from Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg, Germany.
He was ordained a priest on 6 April 1986 for the archdiocese of Madurai.
He has held the following positions: secretary to the archbishop of Madurai (1986-1989); parish priest of Sacred Heart, Kodaikanal (1995-1999); professor of theology at Sacred Heart Seminary in Chennai (1999-2004); editor-in-chief of Nam Vazhvu - A Tamil Catholic Weekly in Chennai (2004-2011); and rector of Saint Peter's Seminary in Madurai (2011-2014). From 2014 to the present he has served as parish priest of the Holy Rosary parish, vicar forane of Madurai South Vicariate, director of the pastoral centre and coordinator of archdiocesan Commissions.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Osório Citora Afonso, I.M.C., until now official at the Dicastery for Evangelization, Section for first evangelization and the new particular Churches, as auxiliary bishop of Maputo, Mozambique, assigning him the titular see of Putia in Numidia.

Msgr. Osório Citora Afonso, I.M.C., was born on 6 May 1972 in Ribaue, Nampula, Mozambique. He gave his solemn vows on 17 June 2001 in the Consolata Missionary Institute in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
After completing his studies at the Christ the King Seminary in Matola, he studied philosophy at the Santo Agostinho Major Seminarhy of Matola, and theology at the Institut Saint-Eugène de Mazenod in Kinshasa.
He was ordained a priest on 3 November 2002.
After ordination, he first served as parish vicar and bursar of St. Hilaire parish in Kinshasa (2002-2005) and regional counsellor for the Democratic Republic of Congo (2005-2006). Following a licentiate in sacred scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome (2006-2010), he continued his studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2008-2009) and L’École Biblique et Archéologique of Jerusalem (2010-2011). He went on to hold the roles of member of the Board of the General House in Rome (2008-2010); local collaborator at the apostolic nunciature in Kinshasa (2011-2013); formator and bursar of the Theological Seminary of Kinshasa (2011-2013); superior of the Missionary Centre of the diocese of Vittorio Veneto (2014-2016); superior of Casas Milaico in Treviso (2014-2016); regional counsellor for Italy - Treviso, Veneto (2016-2017); and formator in the International Theological Seminary of Bravetta, Rome (2016-2017).
