Resignation and appointment of bishop of Itumbiara, Brazil
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Itumbiara, Brazil, presented by Bishop Antônio Fernando Brochini, C.S.S.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop José Aparecido Gonçalves de Almeida as bishop of Ibumbiara, Brazil, transferring him from the titular see of Enera and the office of auxiliary of Brasilia.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop José Aparecido Gonçalves de Almeida was born on 21 July 1960 in Ourinhos, in the diocese of the same name, in the State of São Paulo.
He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Faculdades Associadas do Ipiranga in São Paulo-SP and in theology at the Pontifícia Faculdade de Teologia Nossa Senhora da Assunção in São Paulo-SP. He obtained a doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. On 21 December 1986 he received priestly ordination for the archdiocese of São Paulo. With the dismemberment and creation of the diocese of Santo Amaro, on 15 March 1989, he was incardinated in the new circumscription.
He has held the following offices: parish administrator of Santa Cruz; parish priest of Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro; and official, then under-secretary of the then-Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts.
On 8 May 2013 he was appointed titular bishop of Enera and auxiliary of Brasilia, and received episcopal ordination the following 13 July.
Within the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil, he collaborates as canonical supervisor in various commissions and services.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Sergi Gordo Rodríguez, until now titular bishop of Cene and auxiliary of Barcelona, as bishop of Tortosa, Spain.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Sergi Gordo Rodríguez was born in Barcelona on 23 March 1967. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Facultat de Teologia de Catalunya and was ordained a priest on 14 June 1992.
He holds a licentiate in philosophy and a doctorate from the Universitat Ramon Llull in Barcelona, and studied German language and philosophy in Munich. He has served as formator at the minor seminary and collaborator in the parishes of Santa Maria and Santísima Trinidad in Vilafranca del Penedès (1992-2001); chargé for relations with Secular Institutes of the Episcopal Delegation for Consecrated Life (1997-2005); professor in the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology (1998-2017); secretary general and chancellor of the Curia, and secretary of the ecclesiastical province of Barcelona (2004-2017); canon and member of the Presbyteral Council (2009-2017). In 2017 he became a member of the Patronage of the Foundation for the Construction of the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia.
He was appointed titular bishop of Cene and auxiliary of Barcelona on 17 June 2017, receiving episcopal consecration the following 9 September.
Within the Episcopal Conference, he has been a member of the Episcopal Commission for the Lay Apostolate (2017-2020), and since 2020 he is a member of the Episcopal Commission for the Laity, Family and Life.
