Appointment of pontifical delegate for the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Diego Giovanni Ravelli, titular of Recanati and master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations, as pontifical delegate for the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua. He will take office on 1 August 2023.

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Knoxville, United States of America, presented by Bishop Richard F. Stika.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest, Hungary

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Kornél Fábry, of the clergy of the diocese of Kaposvár, until now director of the Pastoral Institute of the Hungarian Episcopal Conference, as auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Ezstergom-Budapest, assigning him the titular see of Guardialfiera.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Kornél Fábry was born on 22 October 1972 in Budapest. He carried out his philosophical and theological studies at the Central Seminary of Budapest (1995-2000). He was ordained a priest on 17 June 2000 and incardinated in the diocese of Kaposvár. He is a member of the Emmanuel Community.

After ordination, he first held the role of parish vicar of Saint Nicolas des Champs in Paris (2000-2001), and of Szent Imre in Kaposvár (2001-2003). He was then awarded a doctorate in biblical theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2003-2008). He went on to serve as parish priest of the parish of the Guardian Angels in Kaposfüred in the diocese of Kaposvár (2008-2016). From 2016 to 2020 he was secretary general of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress of Budapest.

He is currently director of the Pastoral Institute of the Hungarian Episcopal Conference (since 2021), head of the personal parish of the Charismatics in Budapest (since 2022) and national delegate for the Jubilee Year 2025.
