Resignation and appointment of bishop of Kalamazoo, U.S.A.
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Kalamazoo, United States of America, presented by Bishop Paul J. Bradley.
The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Edward M. Lohse, of the clergy of the diocese of Erie, until now vicar general, moderator of the Curia and parish priest of Saint Julia in Erie.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Edward M. Lohse was born on 23 November 1961 in Erie, Pennsylvania, in the diocese of the same name. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in history, he carried out his theological studies at Saint Vincent’s Seminary in Latrobe, where he was awarded a Master of Divinity.
He was ordained a priest on 21 April 1989 for the diocese of Erie.
After ordination, he held the roles of parish vicar of Saint Thomas the Apostle in Corry (1989-1990); teacher and chaplain at the Central Catholic High School in DuBois (1990-1995); vocational director (1995-2000 and 2002-2010); vice chancellor (2001-2007) and chancellor (2007-2010). He was awarded a licentiate and doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2015), while serving as official at the Dicastery for the Clergy (2010-2015). He went on to hold the office of episcopal vicar for canonical services (2016-2017). He has served as vicar general and moderator of the Curia (since 2017) and parish priest of Saint Julia (since 2022).
