Appointment of archbishop of Chambéry and bishop of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and of Tarentaise, France
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Thibault Verny, until now titular of Lamzella and auxiliary of Paris, as archbishop of Chambéry and bishop of Saint-Jean-de Maurienne and of Tarentaise, France.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Thibault Verny was born on 7 November 1965 in Paris. After studying engineering at the École Supériure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles de Paris, he entered the archdiocesan seminary. He subsequently attended the Pontifical French Seminary, and was awarded a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University.
He was ordained a priest on 27 June 1998 for the archdiocese of Paris.
On 25 June 2016 he was appointed titular bishop of Lamzella and auxiliary of Paris, receiving episcopal ordination the following 9 September.
Within the Bishops’ Conference of France, he is president of the Council for the Prevention and Combat of Paedophilia.
