The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Samoa-Pago Pago, American Samoa, presented by Bishop Peter Hugh Brown, C.SS.R.
He is succeeded by the Coadjutor Bishop Kolio Etuale.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Lawrence Mukasa, of the clergy of the diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana, until now vicar general, as bishop of the diocese of Kasana-Luweero, Uganda.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Lawrence Mukasa was born on 14 March 1957 in Nabwiri, diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana. After attending the minor seminary of Kisubi, he studied philosophy at Saint Thomas Aquinas National Major Seminary in Katigondo, in the diocese of Masaka, and theology at Saint Mary’s National Major Seminary in Ggaba, in the archdiocese of Kampala.
He was ordained a priest on 24 June 1984, and incardinated in the diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana.
After ordination, he first served as vicar of the Bukalagi parish (1984), vicar of the Naluggi parish (1985-1986), and professor and formator at Saint Thomas Aquinas National Major Seminary in Katigondo (1986-1990). After studying Church history at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome (1990-1992), he went on to serve as spiritual director and professor at Saint Thomas Aquinas National Major Seminary in Katigondo (1992-1997) and at Saint Mbaaga’s Major Seminary in the archdiocese of Kampala (2001-2005); parish priest of the Bukalagi parish (1997-2001); since 2005, vicar general of the diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana and, since 2018, vicar for the clergy.

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti, prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, as his special envoy at the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the coronation of the Icon of Our Lady of Budslav, Belarus, scheduled to take place at the national Marian shrine from 30 June to 1 July 2023.
