Appointment of bishop of Kibungo, Rwanda
The Holy Father has appointed the Revernd Jean-Marie Vianney Twagirayezu, of the clergy of Nuyundu, until now secretary general of Caritas in Rwanda, as bishop of the diocese of Kibungo, Rwanda.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Jean-Marie Vianney Tawgirayezu was born on 21 July 1960 in Nyundu. After completing his studies in commerce and accounting in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and work experience in a state company, he studied philosophy and theology at Nyakibanda Seminary, in the diocese of Kabgayi.
He was ordained a priest on 8 October 1995 for the Nyundo clergy.
After ordination, he first served as parish priest in Muramba and Kibingo, in the diocese of Nyundo (1995-1997). Following his studies for a licentiate in pastoral theology at the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium (1997-2000), he went on to serve as director of diocesan Caritas (2000-2009) and bursar of the diocese of Nyundo (2002-2009). He was awarded a licentiate in project management from the Université Catholique de Louvain (2009-2016).
Since 2016 he has been secretary general of Caritas Rwanda.
