Appointment of bishop of Gaylord, U.S.A.
The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of Gaylord, United States of America, the Reverend Jeffrey J. Walsh, of the clergy of the diocese of Scranton, until now parihs priest of the Saint Rose of Lima parish and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Carbondale.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Jeffrey J. Walsh was born on 29 November 1965 in Scranton in the diocese of the same name. He attended the University of Scranton where he obtained a bachelor’s degree. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and at Marywood University in Scranton, where he obtained a Master’s degree in social work.
He was ordained a priest on 25 June 1994.
Since priestly ordination he has held the following offices: parish vicar of the Saint Rose of Lima parish and director of religious formation at the Sacred Heart High School in Carbondale (1995); parish vicar of the Cathedral of Saint Peter (1996); parish priest of the Our Lady of the Lake parish in Lake Winola (1999); director of formation at the Saint Pius X Seminary (1999); director of vocations (2002); parish priest of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish in Tunkhannock (2004); regional episcopal vicar (2006); administrator of Saint Rita parish in Gouldsbro (2008); administrator of Saint Anthony parish in Throop (2009); secretary for Catholic social services (2009); parish priest of Saint John parish in East Stroudsburg (2010); and vicar for the clergy (2015). To date he has served as parish priest of the Saint Rose of Lima and Our Lady of Mount Carmel parishes in Carbondale. In addition, he is a member of the College of Consultors and the Presbyteral Council.
