Resignation and appointment of bishop of Chioggia, Italy
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Chioggia, Italy, presented by Bishop Adriano Tessarollo.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Giampaolo Dianin, of the clergy of the diocese of Padua, until now lecturer and rector of the Seminary, as bishop of Chioggia, Italy.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Giampaolo Dianin was born on 29 October 1962 in Teolo, in the diocese of Padua, where he attended the seminary and was ordained a priest on 7 June 1987. From 1987 to 1991 he attended the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, obtaining a doctorate in Moral Theology.
He has served as professor of family morality since 1991 at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy, Padua section, and later at the new Theological Faculty of Triveneto. He taught fundamental morality and social morality from 1995 to 2002 at the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences in Padua, and family pastoral ministry from 2003 in the two-year licentiate course in pastoral theology in Padua.
Since 1987 he has been a cooperator in the parish of Mestrino; from 1992 to 2000 he was director of the Family Office of the diocese of Padua; coordinator of the Family Commission of the Triveneto Ecclesiastical Region from 1999 to 2001; and unitary assistant of Catholic Action in Padua from 2000 to 2007. From 2009 until now he has served as rector of the major seminary of Padua; from 2009 to 2012, episcopal delegate for the permanent diaconate and from 2012 to 2018, coordinator of the Triveneta Commission for Seminaries. Among the various diocesan assignments he has undertaken, he has been a member of the Pastoral Coordination Office, member of the diocesan Pastoral Council and of the Presbyteral Council, and since 2019 member of the College of Consultors.
Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Benguela, Angola
The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Benguela, Angola, the Reverend Estêvão Binga, of the clergy of the same diocese, until now rector of the major seminary of theology of Benguela, assigning him the titular see of Nasbinca.
Curriculum vitae
The Reverend Estêvão Binga was born on 2 September 1966 in Twei, in the metropolitan archdiocese of Lubango. He entered the minor seminary of Cubal, diocese of Benguela, and then continued his studies in philosophy in the Bom Pastor Seminary and theology in the Cristo Rei Seminary in Huambo. From 21 July 1995 to 1997 he served as prefect of discipline in the preparatory seminary, and teacher of various subjects in the three seminaries of Benguela.
He was ordained a priest on 28 April 1996.
He was awarded a bachelor’s degree, a licentiate and a doctorate in dogmatic theology from the Facultad de Teología del Norte de España in Burgos (1997-2002); prefect of discipline (2003-2005) and rector (from 2005 to the present) in the seminary of theology in Benguela, collaborator in the parish of Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes (since 2004) and, from 2010, president of the diocesan Commission for Study and Refresher Sessions and teacher in various Higher Institutes (ISTEB, Polytechnic Institute of Benguela, and ICRA).
