Appointment of president of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State and president of the Governorate of Vatican City State

The Holy Father has appointed as president of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State and president of the Governorate of Vatican City State as Bishop Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, L.C., titular of Villamagna in Proconsulari, until now secretary general of the Governorate of Vatican City State, at the same time conferring to him the personal title of Archbishop. The appointment will take effect from 1 October 2021.

Appointment of the secretary of the Congregation for the Clergy

The Holy Father has appointed as secretary of the Congregation for the Clergy the Reverend Andrés Gabiel Ferrada Moreira, until now official of the same Congregation, assigning him the titular archiepiscopal see of Tiburnia. The appointment will take effect from 1 October 2021.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Andrés Gabriel Ferrada Moreira was born in Santiago de Chile on 10 June 1969. He was ordained a priest for the metropolitan archdiocese of Santiago de Chile on 3 July 1999. He was awarded a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 2006. He has held various pastoral roles in the diocese, including that of director of studies and prefect of theology in the Seminario Pontificio Mayor de los Santos Ángeles Custodios, Santiago de Chile. From 2018 to the present he has served as official of the Congregation for the Clergy.
