Resignation of bishop of Mileto-Nicotera-Tropea, Italy, and appointment of apostolic administrator

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Mileto-Nicotera-Tropea, Italy, presented by Bishop Luigi Renzo, and has appointed Bishop Francesco Oliva of Locri-Gerace as apostolic administrator of the same see.

 

Appointment of bishop of Mondoñedo-Ferrol, Spain

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Mondoñedo-Ferrol, Spain, the Reverend Fernando García Cadiñanos, of the clergy of Burgos, until now vicar general.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Fernando García Cadiñanos was born in Burgos on 7th May 1968. He studied philosophy and theology at the major seminary of Burgos. He obtained a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Faculty of Theology in Burgos and a licentiate in social sciences from the Pontifical Gregorian University, specialising in the Social Doctrine of the Church and social ethics. He was ordained a priest on 26 June 1993.

Since ordination he has served as parish vicar of Santa Catalina in Aranda de Duero (1993-1997), diocesan delegate for the Pastoral Care of Labour (1995-1997), parish priest of Solarana (2000-2014) and Villalmanzo (2004-2014), founder and secretary of the diocesan Department of Socio-Political Formation to the Faith (2000-2010), archpriest of Arlanza (2005-2014), parish priest of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves (2014-2016), episcopal delegate for Caritas since 2015, and vicar general from 2016 to the present.
