Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Iran

The Holy Father has appointed His Excellency Archbishop Andrzej Józwowicz, titular of Lauriacum and until now apostolic nuncio in Rwanda, as apostolic nuncio in Iran.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Legnica, Poland

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Legnica, Poland, presented by Bishop Zbigniew Kiernikowski.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Andrzej Siemieniewski as bishop of the diocese of Legnica, Poland, transferring him from the titular see of Teuzi and from the office of auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Wrocław.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Andrzej Siemieniewski was born on 8 August 1957 in Wrocław. After his studies at the Metropolitan Major Seminary he was ordained a priest on 1 June 1985 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Wrocław.

From 1985 to 1987 he served as vicar in the parish of Saint Stanislaus in Świdnica, and subsequently studied at the Pontifical University Saint Thomas Aquinas – Angelicum, obtaining a doctorate in spiritual theology.

From 1991 to 1998 he was spiritual director of the major seminary. In 1998 he qualified as a university teacher at the local Pontifical Theological Faculty and in 1997 became director of the Department of Spiritual Theology. From 1998 to 2001 he was also vice-rector of the same Faculty. In 2004 he was appointed as episcopal vicar for the ongoing formation of the clergy. On 5 January 2006 he was appointed as titular bishop of Teuzi and auxiliary of Wrocław, receiving episcopal consecration on 11 February 2006. Within the episcopal conference he is a member of the Council for the Doctrine of the Faith, delegate for Charismatic Movements and member of the Group for Contacts with the Polish Ecumenical Council.
