Resignation and appointment of bishop of Huancavelica, Peru

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation of Bishop Isidro Barrio Barrio from the pastoral care of the diocese of Huancavelica, Peru.

The Pope has appointed Bishop Carlos Alberto Sacedo Ojeda, O.M.I., as bishop of the diocese of Huancavelica, transferring him from the titular see of Mattiana and from the office of auxiliary of Huancayo.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Carlos Alberto Salcedo Ojeda, O.M.I. was born on 25 November 1960 in Comas, diocese of Carabayllo. He gave his solemn vows in the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on 30 August 1993. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at the Instituto Superior de Estudios Teológicos ISET Juan XXIII in Lima. He was ordained a priest on 6 January 1996.

Since his ordination he has held the following positions: parish vicar of San Juan, metropolitan archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico (1996); parish vicar of Nuestra Señora de la Paz in Comas, diocese of Carabayllo (1997-1999); parish priest of San Francisco de Asís in Orcotuna and Señor de la Ascensión in Mito, archdiocese of Huancayo (2000-2004) (2011-2016); counsellor of the delegation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Peru (2005-2008); director of the Saint Eugene Mazenod pre-novitiate of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Lima (2006-2007); Secretary of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate team for formation in the Latin American region (2006); assistant to the Master of Novices in the International Novitiate of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate Mauricio Lefebvre in Asunción, Paraguay (2008-2011). From 2011 to 2016 he was coordinator of the Commission for Justice and Peace and Integrity of Creation of the delegation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Peru and from 2015 to 2016 episcopal vicar of Vicariate III of the archdiocese of Huancayo.

He was elected titular bishop of Mattiana and auxiliary of Huancayo on 30 January 2016, and received episcopal consecration the following 17 April.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Huancayo, Peru

The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Huancayo, Peru, the Reverend Fr. Luis Alberto Huamán Camayo, O.M.I., until now counsellor for Latin America and the Caribbean, of the Congregatino of Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Rome, assigning him the titular see of Tepelta.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Luis Alberto Huamán Camayo, O.M.I., was born on 5 February 1970 in Tarma, Peru, in the diocese of the same name.

From 1988 to 1991 he studied civil engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú; from 1994 to 1995 philosophy at the Facultad de Teologia Pontificia y Civil de Lima and in 1997 at the Universidad de Cochabamba, Bolivia; from 1998 to 2001 he attended a course in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, and in 2004 a course for formators at the Universidad de Cochabamba; from 2005 to 2006 he studied for a licentiate in spiritual theology at the Universidad Católica Boliviana.

On 7 January 2001 he gave his perpetual vows in Rome for the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, and on 6 October 2001 he was ordained a priest in Tarma, Peru.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Cristo Rey, Pueblo Nuevo and promoter of the parish school Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús in Chincha, diocese of Ica (2001-2003); superior of the BOLPER international post-novitiate in Cochabamba and lecturer at the Interreligious de Nazaret (2004-2008); parish vicar of San Eugenio, Villa Pagador, Cochabamba (2004-2005); prison chaplain in Cochabamba (2006-2007); bursar of the delegation of the Congregation in Peru (2008-2010); professor at the Peruvian Religious Conference (2009-2011); parish priest of Nuestra Señora de la Paz in Comas, diocese of Carabayllo (2009-2013); superior of the General Delegation of Oblates of Peru (2014-2016).

From 2016 until now, he has served as a member of the General Council for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Congregation of Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

He speaks Spanish, Italian and English.

 

Appointment of ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences

The Holy Father has appointed the Distinguished Professor Riccardo Pozzo, professor of history of philosophy at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy, as an ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

Curriculum vitae

Professor Riccardo Pozzo, born in Milan, Italy, on 7 June 1959, is a philosopher and historian of philosophy. He graduated in 1983 from the University of Milan La Statale, and was awarded a PhD in 1988 from the University of Saarland, Germany. He obtained his free professorship in 1995 at the University of Trier, Germany, before serving as associate professor in 1996 at the Catholic University of America, U.S.A.; he became full professor in 2002 at the University of Verona, Italy, and holder of the history of philosophy chair in 2019 at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy. He directed the Institute for the European Intellectual Lexicon and History of Ideas and the Department of Human and Social Sciences, Cultural Heritage of the National Research Council (CNR). He is the author of numerous publications, and a member of the Institut International de Philosophie and the Accademia Roveretana degli Agiati.
