Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Galveston-Houston, U.S.A.

The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of Galveston-Houston, United States of America, the Reverend Fr. Italo Dell’Oro, C.R.S., member of the Clerics Regular of Somasca, assigning him the titular see of Sucarda.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Italo Dell’Oro was born on 20 June 1953 in Malgrate, in the province of Lecco, Italy.

After his primary studies he entered the novitiate of the Regular Clerics of Somasca and gave his solemn vows in 1981. He studied in Rome, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in theology at the Pontifical Saint Anselm Athenaeum (1982). He was awarded a master's degree in psychological counselling from Rivier University in New Hampshire, USA (1988).

He was ordained a priest on 11 September 1982.

In 1985, he was assigned to exercise his ministry at a school in New Hampshire. In 1992, he was appointed as parish priest of the Assumption parish in Texas. He has served as director for the promotion of vocations of the Somascans, since 2015 as vicar for the clergy and from 2016 until the present as episcopal vicar for marriage of the metropolitan archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
