Transfer of the bishop of the Major Archiepiscopal Curia of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church as bishop of the eparchy of Cluj-Gherla, Romania.
His Beatitude Cardinal Lucian Mureşan, major archbishop of Făgăraş şi Alba Iulia of the Romanians, with the consent of the bishops of the Major Archiepiscopal Curia of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church, and having informed the Apostolic See, has transferred Bishop Claudiu-Lucian Pop, titular bishop of Mariamme and bishop of the Major Archiepiscopal Curia, to the pastoral care of the eparchy of Cluj-Gherla, Romania.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Claudiu-Lucian Pop was born on 22 July 1972 in Piscolt, district of Satu-Mare, Romania, in the eparchy of Oradea Mare of the Romanians.
He studied at the Pontifical Romanian College of Rome from 1991 to 1999, and attended courses in philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University and in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, where in 2006 he was awarded a degree in spiritual theology.
He was ordained a priest on 23 July 1995 in Oradea.
From 1999 to 2002 he carried out his presbyteral ministry in the parish of Saint George of the Romanians in Parish as vicar and from 2002 to 2007 as parish priest and rector of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Mission of the French capital.
The Congregation for Eastern Churches, upon presentation of the major archbishop and of the synod of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church, appointed him in December 2007 as rector of the Pontifical Romanian College of Rome.
On 21 November 2011 the Holy Father granted his assent to the election of Msgr. Pop as bishop of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Major Archiepiscopal Church, assigning him the titular See of Mariamme.
On 8 December of the same year he received episcopal consecration.
