The Holy Father has appointed as under-secretary for the Faith and Development Sector of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development the Reverend Sr. Alessandra Smerilli, F.M.A., lecturer in political economics at the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences “Auxilium”, Rome.

Curriculum vitae

The Reverend Sr. Alessandra Smerilli, F.M.A., was born on 14 November 1974 in Vasto, Chieti, Italy. She was awarded a doctorate in political economics from the Faculty of Economics of La Sapienza University of Rome, and a doctorate in economics from the University of East Anglia School of Economics, Norwich, United Kingdom. She is currently advisor to Vatican City State and consultor of the Synod of Bishops.

The Holy Father has extended the term of office of the members of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors for one year:

Mrs. Hanna Suchocka; Prof. Myriam Wijlens; Mrs. Sinalelea Fe'ao; Mrs. Teresa Kettelkamp Morris.

The Holy Father has also appointed Mr. Juan Carlos Cruz of Chile as a member of the same Commission for three years.
