The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Charlottetown, Canada, presented by Bishop Richard John Grecco.
Appointment of bishop of Hvar, Croatia
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Ranko Vidović, of the clergy of the metropolitan archdiocese of Split-Makarska, as bishop of the diocese of Hvar, Croatia, until now parish priest and rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Solin.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Ranko Vidović was born on 6 May 1961 in Ćerlek, in the metropolitan archdiocese of Split-Makarska. After completing his philosophical and theological studies at the major seminary in Split, he was ordained a priest on 29 June 1986 for the same metropolitan archdiocese.
After ordination he served as chaplain in Kastel Kambelovac (1986-1988) and parish priest in Split-Lovrinac (1988-2014). Since 2014, he has been parish priest and rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Solin.
In addition, since 5 December 1988 he has been a member of the archdiocesan Council for the Seminary and Vocations, and since 31 October 2014, dean of Solin.

The Holy Father has appointed as members of the Congregation for Bishops His Eminence Cardinal Sérgio da Rocha, archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia, and His Eminence Cardinal Joseph William Tobin, C.SS.R., archbishop of Newark.
