Resignation and appointment of military ordinary for Korea

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Military Ordinariate for Korea, presented by Bishop Francis Xavier You Soo-il, O.F.M.

The Holy Father has appointed as military ordinary for Korea the Reverend Titus Seo Sang-Bum of the clergy of Seoul, until now parish priest of the Daechi-dong parish in the same metropolitan archdiocese.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Titus Seo Sang-Bum was born on 6 February 1961 in Seoul. After completing his studies in the major seminary of Sungshin, in the metropolitan archdiocese of Seoul, he carried out his philosophical and theological formation at the Archdiocesan Major Seminary of Seoul (The Catholic University of Korea), obtaining a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in theology. He also attended an intensive course in English in Australia (2017-2018).

He received priestly ordination on 12 February 1988 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Seoul.

Since ordination, he has held the following offices: parish vicar of Amsa-dong (1988-1991); parish vicar of Hangang (1991-1992); representative of the diocesan Synod of Seoul (1991-2005); military chaplain, discharged with the rank of Colonel (1992-2013); member of the presbyteral council of Seoul (2005-2013); vicar general of the Military Ordinariate (2013-2017); and member of the Commission for staff of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Seoul (2015-2017). Since 2018 he has served as parish priest of the Daechi-dong parish in Seoul.

 

Appointment of bishop of Guruè, Mozambique

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Guruè, Mozambique, the Reverend Inácio Lucas, of the clergy of Nacala, until now vicar general of the same diocese.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Inácio Lucas was born on 21 September 1969 in Napaco, in the province of Nampula. After his primary and secondary studies in Napaco, Namirôa and Mirrote (1976-1984), he continued his formation in Carapira, Monapo, in the Catholic missionary school of São Daniele Comboni (1985-1987).

In 1988 he studied at the São Carlos Lwanga Preparatory Seminary in Nampula. He studied philosophy in the Seminary of Matola (1990-1992), and theology in the Seminary of Maputo (1993-1996).

On 21 June 1998 he received priestly ordination, and was incardinated in the diocese of Nacala.

Since ordination he has held the following offices: parish vicar of the Cathedral of Nacala, spiritual assistant of the Legion of Mary, teacher of Portuguese and history, diocesan secretarial official, diocesan head for vocations and for seminarians (1998-2001).

He was awarded a licentiate in sacred liturgy from the Pontifical Saint Anselm Athenaeum in Rome (2001-2004). In addition, he served as parish vicar of the Cathedral of Nacala (2004-2005); vice rector and prefect of studies of the Santo Agostinho Philosophy Seminary of Matola; lecturer in liturgy in the Theological Seminary of Maputo and in the Mother Mary Africa Institute of Higher Education (2005-2011); secretary of the Episcopal Commission for the Liturgy and the Episcopal Commission for the Clergy; rector of the Saint Pius X Interdiocesan Theological Seminary of Maputo (2011-2015), and parish priest in solidum of Nossa Senhora da Assunção in Netia (2015-2017). From 2017 to the present he has served as vicar general of the diocese of Nacala, moderator priest of São João de Deus and rector of the Nossa Senhora Mãe de África Shrine in Alua.

 

Appointment of bishop of Uíje, Angola

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Uíje, Angola, the Reverend Joaquim Nhanganga Tyombe, of the clergy of Lubango, until now rector of the Fr. Leonardo Sikufinde Major Seminary in the same metropolitan archdiocese.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Joaquim Nhanganga Tyombe was born on 22 September 1969 in Mambandi-Cacula, province of Huíla, metropolitan archdiocese of Lubango. He studied in the Christ the King Philosophy Seminary of Huambo and in the Good Shepherd Seminary of Benguela. From 1996 to 2000 he attended the Saint John Vianney Seminary of Pretoria, South Africa, obtaining a bachelor's degree in 2001.

He was ordained a priest on 24 November 2001 for the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lubango.

After priestly ordination he first held the offices of parish priest and superior of the Our Lady Queen of the World Mission in Bibala and Camucuio, diocese of Namibe (2001-2006). He then attended a training course in planning and participatory management of community projects in Bibala-Namibe (2003-2004). He subsequently served as director of the Instituto de Ciêcias Religiosas de Angola (ICRA) (ICRA) in Lubango, and member of the archdiocesan pastoral secretariat and presbyteral council. He was awarded a doctorate in systematic theology at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa of Lisbon (2010-2012) and a degree in school administration at the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) (2012-2016). He was cooperator vicar in the Santos Rei Magos do Campo Grande parish in Lisbon (2010-2016) and from 2016 until now has served as rector and lecturer of the Fr. Leonardo Sikufinde Major Seminary in Lubango.

 

Appointment of apostolic nuncio in the Cook Islands

The Holy Father appointed Archbishop Novatus Rugambwa, titular of Tagaria, apostolic nuncio in New Zealand, Fiji, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, Samoa, and apostolic delegate in the Pacific Ocean, as apostolic nuncio in the Cook Islands.

 

Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Tunisia

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Kurian Mathew Vayalunkal, titular of Raziaria, apostolic nuncio in Algeria, as apostolic nuncio in Tunisia.
