Appointment of auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Nitra, Slovakia

The Holy Father has appointed as titular bishop of Amudarsa and auxiliary of Nitra, Slovakia, the Reverend Peter Beňo, until now dean of Trenčín, parish priest and rector of the diocesan Shrine of Saints Andrew Svorad and Benedict Skalka in Skalka nad Váhom.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Peter Beňo was born on 2 September 1972 in Bánovce nad Bebravou.

He was ordained a priest on 14 September 1996 for the diocese of Nitra. Since priestly ordination he has held the following offices: parish vicar in Púchov (1996-1997); parish administrator in Nesluša (1997-2002); prefect of the Saint Gorazd Major Seminary in Nitra (2002-2008); lecturer in the Theological Institute in Nitra and in the Saints Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology of the Comenius University in Bratislava (2002-2008); and parish priest in Soblahov (2008-2014). Since 2014 he has served as parish priest in Skalka nad Váhom, and in 2016 he was appointed as rector of the diocesan Shrine of Saints Andrew Svorad and Benedict Skalka in the same municipality. Since 2018 he has also served as dean of Trenčín.
