Resignation of the metropolitan archbishop of Nairobi, Kenya

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Nairobi, Kenya, presented by His Eminence Cardinal John Njue.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Radom, Poland

The Holy Father accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Radom, Poland, presented by Bishop Henryk Marian Tomasik.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Marek Solarczyk as bishop of the diocese of Radom, Poland, transferring him from the titular see of Hólar and the office of auxiliary of the diocese of Warszawa-Praga.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Marek Solarczyk was born on 13 April 1967 in Wołomin, diocese of Warszawa-Praga. After his high school examinations he was admitted to the Major Metropolitan Seminary of Warszawa, and was ordained a priest on 28 May 1992 for the diocese of Warszawa-Praga.

Since priestly ordination he has held the following offices: parish vicar of Saint Felix of Cantalice in Marysin Wawerski (1992-1993) and in the Cathedral (993-2005); and spokesperson for the diocese and correspondent for the Catholic Information Agency (1993-1996). In 1999 he was awarded a doctorate in Church history and taught ecclesiastical history at the major seminary and religion in a high school in Warszawa. He subsequently served as vice-rector of the major seminary in Warszawa-Tarchomin (2005-2009) and parish priest in the Cathedral of Saint Florian (2009-2011).

On 8 October 2011 he was elected to the titular See of Hólar and appointed as auxiliary of the diocese of Warszawa-Praga. He received episcopal consecration the following 19 November.

Within the Polish Episcopal Conference he holds various roles, including: president of the Council for Youth Pastoral Care, Delegate for Vocations, member of the Commission for the Clergy, member of the Group for Dialogue with the Lutheran Community, and member of the Group for contact with the Polish Ecumenical Council.
