The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of Saint-Claude, France, the Reverend Jean-Luc Garin, of the clergy of the metropolitan archdiocese of Lille, until now parish priest of the Holy Trinity parish in Lambersart.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Jean-Luc Garin was born on 27 October 1969 in La Bassée, in the metropolitan archdiocese of Lille. He began his ecclesiastical formation in the Séminaire de Lille and then at the Institut Catholique de Paris, where he was awarded a licentiate in theology (2002-2006). He was awarded a master’s degree in philosophy at the Sorbonne Université and a Diplôme d’Études Approfondies (DEA) in science of religions and intercultural phenomena.
He was ordained a priest on 29 June 1997 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Lille.
He has held the following offices: member of the pastoral group of the Littoral Ouest-Grande-Synthe (1997-1998); parish vicar of Saint-Pierre – Saint-Paul in Lille (1998-2006); parish priest of Saint-Eloi en Pévèle et Mélantois á Seclin-Attiches and professor at the Séminaire de Lille (2006-2012); diocesan head of permanent formation (2006-2015); rector of the Séminaire de Lille and member of the Episcopal Council (2012-2020); head of provincial formation to the permanent diaconate and secretary of the National Council of Major Seminaries (since 2016); parish priest of the Holy Trinity parish in Lambersart (from 2020 to the present).
