The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Jacques Habert of Sées as bishop of Bayeux, France.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Jacques Habert was born on 2 May 1960 in Saint-Malo, in the archdiocese of Rennes. After his secondary studies, he was awarded a licentiate in public law from the University of Paris XII. In 1984 he entered the Séminaire des Carmes of Paris and carried out his formation in philosophy and theology at the Institut Catholique de Paris, concluding with a licentiate in sacred theology.
He was ordained a priest on 30 September 1989 for the diocese of Créteil. On 28 October 2010 he was appointed as bishop of Sées and received episcopal consecration on 9 January 2011.
Within the Conference of Bishops of France he is a member of the Council for Movements and Associations of Faithful and is the bishop of reference for the rural mission of the Church in France. He has also served as head of the working group Les églises, un nouvel enjeu pastoral.
Appointment of auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Yangon, Myanmar
The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Yangon, Myanmar, the Reverend Noel Saw Naw Aye, of the clergy of Yangon, until now procurator of the archdiocese of Yangon and lecturer in Sacred Scripture in the Major Seminary, assigning him the titular see of Malamocco.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Noel Saw Naw Aye was born on 14 February 1969 in Saukwaigyi Village, in the archdiocese of Yangon. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy of the Saint Joseph Major Seminary of Pyin Oo Lwin (1989-1991), and in theology at the Saint Joseph Theological Institute of the same major seminary in Yangon (1991-1995). At the same time he took a distance-learning course in psychology at the University of Yangon, obtaining a bachelor’s degree. From 2000 to 2002 he studied and obtained a master’s degree in sacred scripture at Saint Joseph’s Seminary and College in New York, United States of America. He was ordained a priest on 18 March 1995 for the archdiocese of Yangon. Since priestly ordination he has held the following offices: assistant in the parishes of Saint John in Pabedan and Saint John in Cantonment, Yangon (1995-1996); pastoral care assistant at the Saint Gabriel Parish in North Okkalapa (1996); assistant at the Saint Augustine Parish in Kamayut, Yangon (1996-1997); missionary fidei donum in the Diocese of Kengtung (1997-1999); missionary fidei donum in the diocese of Mawlamyine (2002-2003); secretary to the archbishop of Yangon (2003-2007); coordinator of pastoral projects for the archdiocese of Yangon (2007-2009); parish priest at the Infant Jesus of Prague in Hlaingthayar, Yangon (2008-2009); and education coordinator, in the John Paul II Youth Education Centre, Yangon (2009-2013). Since 2013 he has been Coordinator of the Episcopal Commission for Education of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Myanmar (CBCM) and, since 2015, procurator of the archdiocese of Yangon and professor of sacred scripture in the major seminary of Yangon.
