Appointment of coadjutor archbishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Rijeka, Croatia

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Mate Uzinić as coadjutor archbishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Rijeka, Croatia, transferring him from the diocese of Dubrovnik.

 

Appointment of auxiliaries of the metropolitan archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliaries of the metropolitan archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia, Brazil:

- the Reverend Dorival Souza Barreto Júnior, of the clergy of the metropolitan archdiocese of Montes Claros, until now parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Conceição e São José in Montes Claros-MG, assigning him the titular see of Tindari;

- the Reverend Valter Magno de Carvalho, of the clergy of the metropolitan archdiocese of Mariana, until now rector of the São José Major Seminary, assigning him the titular see of  Giufi.

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Dorival Souza Barreto Júnior

Msgr. Dorival Souza Barreto Júnior was born on 10 April 1964 in Jequié, in the diocese of the same name, in the state of Bahia. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Catholic University of Salvador-BA (1981-1983), and in theology at the Higher Institute of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro-RJ (1984-1987). He subsequently studied in Rome, where he was awarded a licentiate in liturgy at the Pontifical Saint Anselm Athenaeum (1992-1995) and a doctorate in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University (2000-2002). In addition, he attended a specialist course in philology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte-MG (2009-2011).

He was ordained a priest on 10 March 1988, and was incardinated in the archdiocese of Montes Claros, where he held the following offices: parish vicar of São João Batista in Montes Claros-MG (1988) and of Senhor do Bonfim in Engenheiro Navarro-MG (1988-1990); parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Consolação in Montes Claros-MG (1990-1992); parish administrator of Santo Antônio da Boa Vista in São João da Ponte-MG (1992); chancellor of the archdiocesan Curia (1990-1992; 1996-2006); parish priest of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Nossa Senhora Aparecida (2008-2013); archdiocesan bursar; member of the council for economic affairs, of the presbyteral council, of the college of consulters and of the pastoral council.

Until now he has served as professor of liturgy at the archdiocesan seminary of Montes Claros-MG and in the archdiocesan seminary of Diamantina-MG; professor of latin languages and culture at the State University of Montes Claros (UNIMONTES); coordinator of the archdiocesan Commission for Sacred Art and Cultural Heritage; vice chancellor; and vicar forane. Since 2013 he has served as parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Conceição e São José in Montes Claros-MG.

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Valter Magno de Carvalho

Msgr. Valter Magno de Carvalho was born on 22 February 1973 in Capela Nova, metropolitan archdiocese of Mariana, in the State of Minas Gerais. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology from the São José archdiocesan seminary of Mariana.

He was ordained a priest on 23 August 1997, and was incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Mariana, where he held the following offices: director of the preparatory course (1997-2001); parish administrator of Santo Antônio in Correia de Almeida, district of Barbacena-MG; parish priest of the São José Basilica in Barbacena-MG (1999-2004); episcopal vicar of the South Region (2002-2004); vicar forane of Barbacena-MG (2003-2004); parish priest of Nossa Senhora das Mercês in Mercês-MG (2004-2010); parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Assunção in Barbacena-MG (2010-2014); parish administrator of São Sebastião in Cláudio Manoel, district of Mariana-MG (2014).

Since 2014 he has served as rector of the São José major seminary. In addition, he was director of the São Lourenço Diaconal School, member of the college of consultors and professor in the preparatory course and in the local Institute of Theology.
