Appointment of bishop of Potosí, Bolivia
The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Potosí, Bolivia, Msgr. Nicolás Renán Aguilera Arroyo of the clergy of the diocese of Tarija, until now vicar general and rector of the Cathedra of Saint Bernard.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Nicolás Renán Aguilera Arroyo was born on 9 May 1972 in San Lorenzo, diocese of Tarija.
He completed the following studies: preparatory year at the San Cristóbal Seminary in Sucre (1992-1993); philosophical and theological studies at the San José National Major Seminary in Cochabamba (1993-1998); studies for the licentiate in sacred liturgy at San Dámaso University in Madrid (2011-2013).
He was ordained a priest on 8 December 1999, and incardinated in the diocese of Tarija.
He has held the following offices: parish priest of the San Lorenzo parish, Tarija (1999-2007); diocesan delegate for youth ministry (1999-2007); member of the college of consultors and of the council on economic affairs (2006-2011); rector of the San Juan María Vianney Major Seminary (2007-2010); president of the Diocesan Clergy Conference (2005-2008); episcopal vicar for pastoral care and rector of the diocesan shrine of Chaguaya (2008-2010); and rector of the San José National Major Seminary in Cochabamba (2013-2016).
Until now he has served as vicar general and rector of the Cathedral of Saint Bernard of Tarija.
