Resignation and appointment of bishop of Ciudad Obregón, Mexico

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Ciudad Obregón, Mexico, presented by Bishop Felipe Padilla Cardona.

The Pope has appointed as bishop of Ciudad Obregón, Mexico, Bishop Rutilo Felipe Pozos Lorenzini, currently titular of Satafis and auxiliary of Puebla.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Rutilo Felipe Pozos Lorenzini was born in the city of Rancho San Diego, metropolitan archdiocese of Puebla, on 15 February 1967. He studied at the Palafoxiana Major Seminary of Puebla and received priestly ordination on 29 June 1993. He was incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Puebla. He was awarded a licentiate in spirituality and a diploma for seminary formators at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome.

As a priest he has held the following offices: parish vicar, diocesan assistant for family catechesis and family pastoral care; president of the diocesan Commission for Ministers, professor and rector of the Palafoxiana Major Seminary of Puebla.

On 6 December 2013 he was appointed as titular bishop of Satafis and auxiliary of Puebla, and received episcopal ordination on 3 March 2014. The prelate is part of the Permanent Council of the Mexican Episcopal Conference, representing the Ecclesiastical Province of Puebla.

The Holy Father has appointed as apostolic administrator sede vacante of the diocese of Nicopoli, Bulgaria, the Reverend Msgr. Strahil Veselinov Kavalenov, until now vicar general of the same circumscription.
