Appointment of apostolic visitor for Ethiopian faithful of Alexandrine Ge’ez rite resident in the United States and Canada

The Holy Father has appointed as apostolic visitor for Ethiopian faithful of Alezandrine Ge’ez rite resident in the United States and Canada the Reverend Tesfaye Woldermariam Fesuh, of the clergy of the metropolitan archieparchy of Addis Abeba, Ethiopia.

Reverend Abba Tesfaye Woldemariam Fesuh

The Reverend Abba Tesfaye Woldemariam Fesuh was born on 15 May 1961 in Alitena-Tigray. After completing his studies in philosophy and theology in the Institute of Saint Francis in Addis Abeba in 1988, he was ordained a priest in the same year. In the years 1989 to 1994 he arrived in Rome to study at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas, where he was awarded a licentiate in moral theology as well as the grade of Magister in ecumenical studies (1998). Upon returning to his homeland, he taught moral theology in the Institute of Saint Francis, as administrator of the minor seminary and chancellor of the archieparchial Curia.

In 2001 he went to the United States where he carried out pastoral service in the community of Ethiopian faithful in Washington. He participated in the organisation and unification of African Catholics in this area. In the years 2007 to 2011 he served as pastoral assistant in the Most Blessed Sacrament parish shrine in Washington. Since 2015 he has held the role of protosyncellus and chancellor of the archieparchy of Addis Abeba.
