Appointment of auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Lublin, Poland

The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Lublin, Poland, the Reverend Canon Adam Piotr Bab, of the clergy of the same archdiocese, currently parish priest of the parish of San Giuseppe in Lublin and director of the office of youth pastoral care, assigning him the titular see of Arna.

Reverend Canon Adam Piotr Bab

The Reverend Canon Adam Piotr Bab was born on 30 December 1974 in Lublin. After his high school exams he was received into the major seminary of the archdiocese of Lublin, and was ordained a priest on 22 May 1999 for the same metropolitan archdiocese.

After priestly ordination he served as parish vicar in the parish of the Immaculate Conception in Lublin (1999-2000), and was then sent to continue his studies at the “John Paul II” Catholic University in Lublin where, in 2005, he was awarded a doctorate in pastoral theology,

From 2005 to 2010 he served as rector of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Kraśnik, and then parish priest in Końskowola (2010-2014).

In 2014 he was appointed as parish priest of the parish of Saint Joseph in Lublin, and director of the diocesan office of youth pastoral care as well as consultant of the National Office of Youth Pastoral Care in the Polish Episcopal Conference.

Since 2013 he has served as coordinator of the diocesan Youth Days. Since 2016 he has been ecclesiastical assistant of the Solidarity Movement for the Third World Maitri.

Since 2011 the Reverend Canon Bab has also been a member of the Presbyteral Council and, since 2017, member of the college of consultors as well as member of the preparatory Commission for the Third Synod of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lublin, dedicated to the young.

He is honorary canon of the Archcathedral Chapter of Lublin.

He knows German, Russian and Italian.
