Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Guatemala and of apostolic nuncio in Samoa

The Holy Father has appointed as apostolic nuncio in Guatemala Archbishop Francisco Montecillo Padilla, titular of Nebbio, currently apostolic nuncio in Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Yemen, and apostolic delegate in the Arabian Peninsula.

His Holiness has also appointed as apostolic nuncio in Samoa Archbishop Novatus Rugambwa, titular of Tagaria, apostolic nuncio in New Zealand, Fiji, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga and apostolic delegate in the Pacific Ocean.

Appointment of ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences

The Holy Father has appointed as ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences the distinguished Professor Niraja Gopal Jayal, lecturer at the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance of the Jawaharlal Nehru University of New Delhi, India.

Professor Niraja Gopal Jayal

Professor Niraja Gopal Jayal is a lecturer at the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance at the Jawaharlal Nehru University of New Delhi. She has held the roles of visiting professor at King’s College, London, at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Paris, at Princeton University and at the University of Melbourne.

From 2011 to 2012 she served as vice president of the American Political Science Association. In 2015 she won the Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy Prize of the Association of Asian Studies.

She is the author of numerous publications in the field of political sciences.
