Declaration of the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, 08.04.2020
It has recently been confirmed that a further employee of the Holy See has tested positive for Covid-19, after travelling outside Rome in the first half of March to assist sick relatives. After the onset of the first symptoms, the person was admitted locally without returning to Rome and is now under close observation.
There are therefore eight people found positive for Covid-19 within Vatican City State and among the employees of the Holy See. Of these I can now confirm that two have recovered, one has been discharged from hospital and is on the way to recovery, two are still undergoing treatment in hospital and three are asymptomatic and in self isolation.
