The Holy Father has provided for the merging of the dioceses of Minas and Maldonado-Punta del Este, Uruguay, in a single circumscription, named “Maldonado-Punta del Este-Minas”. At the same time he has appointed Bishop Milton Luis Tróccoli Cebedio of Maldonado-Punta del Este as bishop of the new circumscription.
