Appointment of under-secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches

The Holy Father has appointed as under-secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches the Reverend Flavio Pace, official of the same dicastery.

Reverend Flavio Pace

The Reverend Flavio Pace was born in Monza on 29 July 1977.

After his high school studies in Monza, he entered the archiepiscopal seminary of Milan in 1996. He was ordained a deacon in 2001 and a priest in 2002.

For several years he carried out pastoral activity as parish vicar in Abbiategrasso, occupying himself with youth pastoral care, teaching religion in the state school and acting as chaplain at the local hospice.

He was awarded a certificate in Islamic studies from the Pontifical Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies in Rome in 2010, then going on to collaborate in various initiatives in relations with Islam of the archdiocese of Milan.

He has served as official of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches since 2011, and is chaplain of the “Teresa Grillo Michel” Institute of the Little Sisters of Divine Providence.
