The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Pagadian, Philippines, presented by H.E. Msgr. Emmanuel T. Cabajar, C.SS.R.
The Pope has appointed as bishop of Pagadian, Philippines, the Rev. Ronaldo I. Lunas, of the clergy of the diocese of Digos, currently pastor of the parish of Saint Joseph, Santa Cruz.
H.E. Msgr. Ronaldo I. Lunas
H.E. Msgr. Ronaldo I. Lunas was born in Bala, Magsaysay, in the diocese of Digos, on 27 November 1966. After high school at Santa Croce in Bansalan, and courses in philosophy at the Saint Francis Xavier College Seminary in Davao City, he studied theology at the Saint Francis Xavier Regional seminary major of the same city. Subsequently, between 1993 and 1996, he carried out studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, obtaining a licentiate in S. Theology.
He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Digos on 7 April 1992.
In the years 1992-1993 he was vicar at the parish of the Immaculate Conception in Caburan.
Returning home, after the aforementioned studies in Rome, he was first professor and then dean of the Regional Major Seminary of Saint Francis Xavier in Davao. From 2005 to 2008 he was chancellor of the diocese of Digos. In 2008 he became parish priest of the parish of Saint Isidro Labrador in Davao City. Since 2013 he has served as episcopal vicar for the clergy, and member of the college of consultors and of the presbyteral council.
Since 2014 he has served as pastor of the parish of Saint Joseph the Worker in Santa Cruz.
