Appointment of bishop of Bagé, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Bagé, Brazil, the Rev.do Fr. Cleonir Paulo Dalbosco, O.F.M. Cap., currently parish vicar in the diocese of Caxias do Sul.

Rev.do Fr. Cleonir Paulo Dalbosco, O.F.M. Cap.

The Rev. Fr. Cleonir Paulo Dalbosco, O.F.M. Cap., was born on 25 September 1970 in Barros Cassal, in the diocese of Cruz Alta, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul.

He completed his studies in philosophy at the “Instituto Superior de Filosofia Berthier” (IFIBE) in Passo Fundo-RS, and in theology at the “Escola Superior de Teologia e Espiritualidade Franciscana” (ESTEF) in Porto Alegre-RS. He also attended a course in business administration at the University of Caxias do Sul-RS.

He gave his religious vows as a Friar Minor Capuchin on 25 January 1994, and was ordained a priest on 20 February 1999.

During his priestly ministry he has served as parish vicar (1999) and then parish priest of “Nossa Senhora de Fátima” in Santa Maria-RS (2000-2005). Within the Capuchin Province of the “Sagrado Coração” based in Porto Alegre-RS, he held the positions of director (2005-2008), vicar (2008-2011) and provincial minister (2011-2017).

He is currently parish vicar in the diocese of Caxias do Sul-RS.
