Resignation of bishop of Darwin, Australia, and appointment of successor
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Darwin, Australia, presented by H.E. Msgr. Daniel Eugene Hurley.
The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Darwin, Australia, the Rev. Charles Victor Emmanuel Gauci, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Adelaide, currently administrator of the Cathedral.

The Rev. Charles Victor Emmanuel Gauci, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Adelaide, was born in Malta on 31 March 1952 and moved with his family to Australia at the age of 12. He attended elementary schools in Malta and high schools in Australia. In January 1971 he entered the seminary of Saint Francis Xavier of Adelaide and was ordained a priest on 10 December 1977 for the same archdiocese.
He later attended courses to become a spiritual director with training in Ignatian spirituality.
He carried out his ministry mainly in large parishes such as Hectorville (1978-1983), Woodville (1983-1985), Elizabeth North (1985) and Elizabeth South (1987-1998), Noarlunga-Seaford (1998), Willunga-Kangaroo Island, Victor Hector Goolwa Island and Noarlunga-Seaford-Willunga (2001). Rev. Gauci is the national chaplain of the Society of Christian Doctrine and is also chaplain of several schools.
He has held various roles at archdiocesan level: diocesan consulter, president of the presbyteral council, member of the Council of Priests, member of the Appointments Board, chaplain of the Council for Youth and Young Adults, and local dean.
Since February 2017 he has served as administrator of Adelaide Cathedral.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Coadjutor of Nova Iguaçu (Brazil) S.E. Mons. Gilson Andrade da Silva, currently titular bishop of Noba and auxiliary of the archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia.
H.E. Msgr. Gilson Andrade da Silva
H.E. Msgr. Gilson Andrade da Silva was born on 11 September 1966 in Rio de Janeiro, in the archdiocese of the same name. He completed his studies in philosophy at the diocesan seminary of Petrópolis (1985-1987) and in theology at the University of Navarra in Spain (1988-1991). He then obtained a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome (1997-1999).
On 4 August 1991 he received priestly ordination and was incardinated in the diocese of Petrópolis, where he held the following positions: vice-rector (1992-1997; 1999-2004) and then rector (2004-2011) of the seminary “Nossa Senhora do Amor Divino”; parish vicar of “Sant’Ana and São Joaquim” in Petrópolis (1991-1994); professor of philosophy and theology at the Catholic University of Petrópolis (2000-2011); director of the Institute of Theology, Philosophy and Human Sciences of the Catholic University of Petrópolis (2004-2005); member of the diocesan council for pastoral care; diocesan coordinator of youth ministry; member of the presbyteral council and of the college of consulters.
On 27 July 2011 he was appointed titular bishop of Noba and auxiliary of São Salvador da Bahia, receiving episcopal ordination on the following 24 September.
