Departure from Rome
This morning the Holy Father Francis left the Vatican and transferred by car to Rome-Fiumicino International Airport, from where he departed at 8.35, on board an Alitalia A321, for Geneva, Switzerland, to undertake an ecumenical pilgrimage for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the World Council of Churches.
He is expected to arrive in Geneva International Airport at 10.00.

At the time of leaving Italian territory, the Holy Father sent the following telegram to the President of the Italian Republic, Hon. Sergio Mattarella:
