The Holy Father Francis has appointed as bishop of Babahoyo, Ecuador, H.E. Msgr. Skiper Bladimir Yánez Calvachi, currently bishop of Guaranda.
H.E. Msgr. Skiper Bladimir Yánez Calvachi
H.E. Msgr. Skiper Bladimir Yánez Calvachi was born on 5 February 1972 in Machachi, province of Pichincha, in the archdiocese of Quito. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies in the seminary of Quito.
He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Quito on 29 June 1996.
He holds a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University.
He has held the following offices, among others: parish vicar, parish priest, director of the archdiocesan historical archive, dean, member of the College of Consultors, judge at the ecclesiastical tribunal, chancellor and episcopal vicar of the “Valle de los Chullis y Machachi” zone.
On 24 June 2014 he was appointed as bishop of Guaranda, receiving episcopal ordination the following 15 August.

The Holy Father Francis has appointed as titular bishop of Muteci and auxiliary of the diocese of El Alto, Bolivia, the Rev. Giovani Edgar Arana, of the clergy of the archdiocese of La Paz and rector of the “San Jerónimo” Major Seminary.
Rev. Giovani Edgar Arana
The Rev. Giovani Edgar Arana was born on 23 May 1974 in La Paz, in the archdiocese of the same name. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the “San Jerónimo” Major Seminary in La Paz. He was ordained a priest on 8 December 2004. He attended the Saint Peter Faber Centre for Formators to the Priesthood and to Consecrated Life at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where on 5 June he obtained the diploma in priestly formation.
As a priest he has held the following offices and ministries: cooperating vicar in the “Familia de Nazareth” parish in La Paz (2005-2006); formator in the “San Jerónimo” Major Seminary in La Paz (2007-2008); student at the Saint Peter Faber Centre for Formators to the Priesthood and to Consecrated Life of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2009); administrator of the parish of “Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria” in La Paz (2010-2015); diocesan director of the Schönstatt Movement (2010-2013); vice-rector of the “San Jerónimo” Major Seminary in La Paz (2014-2015); and under secretary for pastoral ministry of the Bolivian Episcopal Conference (2013-2015). Since 2016 he has served as rector of the “San Jerónimo” Major Seminary in La Paz.
