The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski of Łódź, Poland as archbishop of Krakow (area 5,730, population 1,612,724, Catholics 1,572,123, priests 2,144, religious 4,106), Poland. He succeeds Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same metropolitan archdiocese was accepted by the Holy Father.
