The Holy Father has appointed:
Bishop Faustin Ambassa Ndjodo, C.I.C.M., of Batouri, Cameroon, as archbishop of Garoua (area 65,234, population 1,362,000, Catholics 142,447, priests 79, religious 104), Cameroon. He succeeds Archbishop Antoine Ntalou, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same archdiocese was accepted by the Holy Father.
Fr. Philippe Alain Mbarga as bishop of Ebolowa (area 10,000, population 240,000, Catholics 113,000, priests 73, religious 24), Cameroon. The bishop-elect was born in 1968 in Obout, Cameroon and was ordained a priest in 1994. He holds a degree from the University of Central Africa in Yaoundé and a doctorate from the University of Fulda, Germany. He has served as special secretary to the rector of University of Central Africa, rector of the preparatory seminary and of the Marie Reine des Apôtres interdiocesan major seminary of philosophy in Otélé, Yaoundé, and is currently lecturer in sacred scripture at the University of Central Africa and rector of the Notre Dame de l’Immaculée interdiocesan major seminary of theology in Nkolbisson, Yaoundé.
