Angelus: join forces to fight together against the poverty that degrades, offends and kills, 16.10.2016
After the Mass for the canonisation of seven new saints, Pope Francis prayed the Angelus with those who had attended the ceremony in St. Peter’s Square, greeting pilgrims from various countries.
“At the end of this celebration, I would like to greet cordially those who, from different countries, have come to pay homage to the new saints. A special greeting goes to the delegations from Argentina, Spain, France, Italy and Mexico. May the example and intercession of these luminous witnesses sustain the efforts of every person in their respective spheres of work and service, for the good of the Church and the civil community”.
He continued, “Tomorrow will be World Day against poverty. Let us unite our forces, moral and economic, to fight together against poverty that degrades, offends and kills so many of our brothers and sisters, and to put into practice serious policies for the family and for work”.
“Let us entrust to the Virgin Mary each one of our intentions, especially our ceaseless and heartfelt prayer for peace”.
